Two Google Magic Tricks

icoPosted by: Jesse Owen  :  Category: Internet Magic Tricks

I’ve come across two really quite cool Google magic tricks over the last few years and they make the perfect kind of trick you can perform at School or at work,  in fact you can perform them anywhere where you have access to a computer and an internet connection - so pretty much anywhere then if you have a laptop and a mobile broadband connection.

Bondoogle
This webpage which looks exactly like the main Google home page which can be used to perform a number of extremely effective card tricks.

What I will do here is explain the effect and show you the webpage and then point you to the creators website who can explain how you perform the effect much better than I could.

Okay, the effect breaks down into 4 steps as follows:

  1. Ask a kindly spectator to pick a card (any card!!!)
  2. You fail to work out their chosen card (oh dear!)
  3. You do what any respectable magician would do in this state - you turn to your favourite search engine - Google and search for the phrase “What Is It?”
  4. Google returns the results that reveal the card.

This effect can use both text search and image search.

The effect works by entering a secret code before the search phase to find out how this code system works and how to use it please visit Bondoogle creators website.

Google Magic Trick
If you’ve already heard of a Google magic trick the chances are you’ve already heard of this one, it involves the logo on the Google homepage and the two oo’s mysteriously vanishing in front of a spectator and then reappearing while the spectator is covering them up with their fingers.

First you visit http://darkartsmedia.com/Google.html (it’s a flash application created by Dark Arts Media) and get a spectator to watch the logo, then you (as the performer) click anywhere on the browser window, about 5 seconds after the click the two oo’s that make up the centre of the Google logo will fade away.

Get the spectator to place there fingers over the place where the two oo’s are meant to be and then you (as the performer) click again anywhere in the browser window, after counting for 5 seconds get the spectator to move there fingers away and reveal the logo is back as it should be.

To finish the effect you (as the performer) click anywhere in the browser window again to send the browser to the real Google homepage so that the user can search the net.

A better explaination of how to perform this effect can be found here.
